STEVE HINDI, FOUNDER SHARK
Steve Hindi is a former hunter/fisherman, and the founder and president of SHARK. He is also on the advisory board of the Sea Shepherds.
SHARK shoots and uses video footage extensively to deal with many animal issues. SHARK uses many different types of video methods, including undercover video.
SHARK has used Ultralite aircraft both for surveillance and to protect animals from hunters, and is credited with closing down on of the largest canned hunting clubs in Illinois.
SHARK built the Tiger Video Truck, which is equipped with four huge video screens to bring numerous animal issues direct to the public, and this has resulted in numerous wins because cruelty can't stand the spotlight. Among numerous campaigns, SHARK used the Tiger Truck to seriously impact the Olympic rodeo in 2002 by following the torch route across the western two thirds of the United States.
SHARK successfully knocked out pigeon shoots from Illinois, and used video to aid in ending pigeon shoots in some parts of Pennsylvania. SHARK also used undercover video to terminate a live turkey shoot in Pennsylvania. Our graphic video footage of bullfighting persuaded first Pepsi and then Coke to terminate their relationships with bullfighting.
SHARK persuaded Baylor University in Waco, Texas to spend over $1,000,000 to improve its terrible live bear "mascot" exhibit, and to improve its treatment of the bears. SHARK used undercover video to expose the poor shooting of White Buffalo, a company that employees animals serial killers to exterminate deer and other animals, as well as other deer kills in Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio.
SHARK has successfully used its graphic rodeo documentation to force some improvements at rodeos, most notably in Illinois, although much, much more needs to change. SHARK is currently waging a campaign to force Starbucks Coffee to end its sponsorship and rodeos.
