COUNTRY HOE DOWN
Saturday, May 3 High Noon to 6pm
Join Special Guest Actress Jorja Fox for the Animal Acres Country Hoe Down

Jorja Fox
Grab your cowboy hat and dust off your cowgirl boots -- it's the Animal Acres COUNTRY HOE DOWN! Gather with people who care about cows, and other farm animals, and have a great time for a good cause!

The COUNTRY HOE DOWN starts with our unique farm tours, where you can kiss a cow, give a pig a belly rub, talk to turkeys, or simply share a memorable moment with any of our country critters who call Animal Acres, "Home Sweet Home." Our sanctuary tour guides will introduce our residents to you and share some of their amazing and heartwarming stories.

After meeting our farmed animal friends, we'll hear from some of our movement's noted authors and activists including:

Karen Dawn, Founder of DawnWatch.com, will read from and sign her new book, Thanking the Monkey: Rethinking the Way we Treat Animals. Go to ThankingtheMonkey.com to read early reviews and endorsements and see the fun celeb-studded promo video. DawnWatch is the nation's leading media advocacy organization for animals.

Rory Freedman is the coauthor of the NY Times best seller Skinny Bitch in the Kitch and the #1 NY Times and international best seller Skinny Bitch, which has sold more than one million copies worldwide and has been translated into eight languages.

Ethan Smith, Activist and Author of the newly released, Building an Ark: 101 Solutions to Animal Suffering. In her foreword, Dr. Jane Goodall says: "Building the Ark is a book after my own heart" and it is being utilized at her institute's 8,000 Roots & Shoots programs in 90 countries.

Lorri Bauston is the founder of Animal Acres, and is considered the "pioneer" of the farmed animal sanctuary movement, opening the first sanctuary in the country for farmed animals as co-founder of Farm Sanctuary.

After special guest presentations, we'll gather in the sanctuary courtyard for a delicious vegeque provided by NATIVE FOODS. The county cookout menu includes BBQ seitan burgers, potato salad, cole slaw, and strawberry shortcake...yum! And, be prepared to shop 'til you drop for fabulous and fashionable cruelty-free products at ARBONNE and HUMANITAIRE vendor booths.

We, and our farmed animal friends, look forward to hoe'ing with you!
