Rachael and Steve Hirschberg

This month, we are honored to recognize two special volunteers who joined us this year, Steve and Rachael Hirschberg. These two dedicated activists started volunteering after responding to our need for help with emergency rescue efforts last Summer, and they have joined us almost every weekend since to help care for hundreds of rescued farmed animals this year. Office workers during the week, these two love to turn into “farmers” on the weekends! Rachael and Steve are always expressing to us how much they love cleaning animal housing barns, calling it their “zen moment” and chance to connect with the animals they love so dearly. This compassionate and hardworking couple considers the sanctuary animals their own children, and the animals bask in all the attention and love they receive from them. Not surprisingly, the couple became vegan after spending time with their farmed animal friends, and learning about the cruelties of the meat, dairy, and egg industries. Thank you Rachael and Steve, for caring so much, and doing so much, for your sanctuary family. We love you, too!
