THE GANDHI SOCIETY

The Gandhi Society acknowledges individuals who are making a major commitment to the creation of Animal Acres. Our distinct donor society is named after Gandhi, a newborn dairy calf who we rescued from a stockyard. Gandhi could barely walk because of severe front leg deformities and other ailments. Animal Acres cruelty investigators watched in horror as he was kicked and dragged through the auction ring. When he didn't "sell," he was thrown behind a stockyard gate and left to die.

Dozens of dedicated sanctuary volunteers stayed with Gandhi 24 hours a day to provide him veterinary treatments, IV fluids, and intensive rehabilitative care. For days, Gandhi struggled to survive, but he was too frail. Despite all our efforts, Gandhi died in his sleep as a loving volunteer caregiver gently stroked his head. Though our hearts broke, we know Gandhi's brief life was filled with love … and his life continues to teach people to extend loving kindness to ALL animals.

Located on a peaceful 26-acre farm just 45 minutes from Los Angeles, Animal Acres is home to more than 150 animals rescued from slaughter. Our "animal ambassadors" gently teach people that farmed animals are living beings who deserve protection, and love, too. With its proximity to a major metropolitan area and the center of the entertainment and media industries, Animal Acres is in a unique position to educate millions about the plight of farmed animals, and show what each person can do to create a more compassionate world for ALL.

Animal Acres depends on individuals who want to create this unique paradise for farmed animals, and the people who love them. Over 50 percent of our annual budget is provided through our Gandhi Society members. Every year, we rely on the kindness and generosity of dedicated donors to make our rescue, education and advocacy efforts possible. Stall Member $10,000
Each of the sanctuary barns has 12 housing stalls. Stall Members are provided a personal plaque above the stall entrance door, and forever, every animal who resides there will be provided "home sweet home" by YOU. (Includes animal naming opportunity).

Barn Member $25,000
Barn Members are provided their own individual Barn Plaque on an animal housing barn to commemorate your dedication to providing a safe, loving home for those who needed refuge from fear and pain. (Includes animal naming opportunity).

Sanctuary Member $50,000
