Loving Forever Homes Needed

Please note that Animal Acres is not currently adopting out any animals.
Please stay connected with us as this will change in the future!

Since Animal Acres opened its doors in 2005, we have rescued and found loving adoptive forever homes for hundreds of needy farmed animals. To keep our doors open for more suffering farmed animals, we operate active placement programs for rescued cattle, pigs, chickens, emus, turkeys, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, horses, and donkeys. By opening your heart, and home, to rescued farmed animals, you ensure we can continue our lifesaving rescue efforts, and your life will be enriched by the special friendships and bonds you will share with your new companions.

Farmed animals are friends, not food, and cows, pigs, chickens and other country critters share the same traits, behaviors, and personalities as our other animal friends. Did you know that a turkey will talk back to you if you take the time to gobble with them? Or then pigs roll over for belly rubs at the touch of your hand. Cows love to have chin scratches, and act like big puppies when you bring them a treat!

As with caring for dogs and cats, you'll need to learn how to properly care for your farmed animal friends - from health care and grooming, to feeding and housing. Farmed animals have specific housing needs to keep them safe and comfortable. Smaller animals, such as chickens, turkeys, goats, and sheep, need to be protected from predators with fences and enclosures and need to be safely secured into housing barns at night. Larger animals also need protection from wind and rain, or scorching heat. Specialized water and feed equipment is available to ensure your farmed animal friends have proper access to water and feed throughout the day - if you've never had a cow companion, you'll be surprised at how much water one cow can drink in a day!

We are happy to work with you to teach you how to properly care for a chicken, cow, pig, or other country critter, and invite you to visit our sanctuary to learn more about caring for these special animals. When you have made your decision to adopt a farmed animal, the next step is completing our adoption application. After we receive our completed application, a shelter staff member will contact you to discuss your adoption interests and review your application with you to ensure the perfect match!
